Biography

Monica Burmicky (she/her) is a higher education administrator and educator at the GW SMHS, where she manages and supports eight Scholarly Concentrations that complement the MD curriculum through lectures, summer internships, scholarly projects, mentorship, and elective coursework. Her work includes student recruitment and engagement, leadership development, scholarship and mentorship award administration and student organization advising.

Monica brings over a decade of experience leading student success, academic coaching, and federally funded TRIO programs, along with prior roles in advising, residential life, cross-cultural leadership, and teaching across K–12 and higher education settings in the U.S. and abroad. Her work is grounded in a commitment to access, mentorship, and inclusive educational ecosystems that support student growth and achievement.

Fun Facts

When not at work, hanging with her two young daughters, loving on her cat, and writing her dissertation, you can find Monica engaging in just about any physical exercise. She has completed a handful of half marathons and triathlons and just completed her 850th Orange Theory class.
